The art of fielding book review7/7/2023 ![]() ![]() Through hard work and motivation from his new best friend, Henry gets bigger and better and the team starts to attract national attention. Henry has incredible natural abilities at baseball, but has always been scrawny. A small team and a small school that has historically never been on many people’s radar is suddenly thrown into the limelight when shortstop phenom Henry Skrimshander is noticed at a summer tournament and recruited by Westish’s starting catcher, Mike Schwartz. ![]() The Art of Fielding centers around the baseball team at Westish College in Wisconsin. The description caught my attention, so I hope my description will do the same for you. While it has been out for a couple of years and was named “Book of the Year” by several big outlets, I only found it recently at Barnes and Noble in the “staff picks” section. It’s called The Art of Fielding, by Chad Harbach. I’ve read another book that I feel like I have to share with you. ![]()

Perfumes the guide 20187/5/2023 ![]() ![]() The slightly tart, linden-like quality of verbena gives this floral composition a soft, weeping-willow feel that is unexpectedly poetic and affecting. ![]() "This one feels like a blast from the past pulled out of one of Galimard's deep drawers, but I cannot name the fragrance it reminds me of, possibly the old Tilleul D'Orsay. While not hugely original, it has an old-fashioned density to it, a slow reveal, a quality feel, and an interesting fresh-green angle among a welter of woody notes. It is very competently composed by Grasse oil house of Galimard and sits at the bitter, dark end of the - broadly defined - chypre spectrum, in the company of such things such as Guerlain’s Djedi and Lauder’s Aromatics Elixer.
